What’s so great about being an Expat? We’re glad you asked!

We compiled our list of the Best Things About Being an Expat!

1. Explore the World

Expats get to quench that feeling of wanderlust all year long. Break down the barriers and start exploring new countries, cities, and cultures all within the limits of your new backyard.

2. Resourcefulness

When you’re on your own in a new country, you have to learn to rely on yourself to problem solve and create solutions. This sense of self-reliance spills over to your everyday life, becoming a skill you’ll hold onto for life.

The city is celebrating ‘100 years of Mondriaan and De Stijl’ and is completely 'Mondrianising'. The Hague is unveiling the largest Mondrian in the world. The painting with the familiar red, yellow and blue surfaces and straight lines is being exhibited on one of the city’s most striking buildings: City Hall. A unique composition, precisely because of the combination of Mondrian’s work and the iconic architecture of architect Richard Meier.

On Saturday, 28 January 2017 the centre of The Hague will come alive with the excitement, sounds of fireworks and bold colours of the Chinese New Year Festival.

To kick off the Year of the Rooster, 2 large-scale celebrations of the Chinese New Year will take place in The Hague: the national celebrations in and around The Hague City Hall and the local celebrations in The Hague's Chinatown neighbourhood.

All the festivities in The Hague are free of charge and open to the public.

We love our furry and feathered friends, but if you have ever attempted to bring a pet abroad, you know that it is not a simple endeavour.

The work begins at the point of origin. Depending on the host country that you will be traveling to, requirements will vary but may necessitate a long lead time. For example, cats and dogs which will be imported into Japan must be microchipped, vaccinated for rabies at least twice, given a rabies antibody test, wait 180 days after the test, receive a clinical inspection and health certificate from the exporting country, and then notify the Animal Quarantine Service of the animal’s arrival at least 40 days in advance of landing. Some countries also require a quarantine period, at the owner’s expense. Fish, birds, reptiles, and other mammals may be subject to different requirements.
