I’m thinking about the possibility to long term rent out my apartment in Scheveningen (do you still remember?).
Of course, I remembered her. Years ago, I had helped her find an apartment as a tenant. And now, she had her own apartment that she wanted to rent out, immediately thinking of HouseScout for assistance. This blog is about a tenant turned landlord and more...
Once upon a time
It was 2016 In Scheveningen, there was a furnished apartment for rent, waiting for a new resident. I had a nice woman as a client looking for a rental property, so I took her there. The leasing agent barely said goodbye, opened the door, and then stood by like a doorman, waiting for the lady and me to finish. That's not how you introduce someone to their new home! I guided her through the rooms, showed her the possibilities, pointed out the important details, and asked for her opinions, thoughts, and expectations. I discussed with the leasing agent what conditions could still be negotiated. Eventually, she became the new tenant of this lovely apartment!
Do you remember me?
Three years later, I receive an email. It's that nice lady from back then. She has since bought her own apartment and wants to rent it out. She asks if I remember her because she certainly remembers HouseScout! She recalls the guidance during the check-in, house viewings, genuine interest, spontaneity, and involvement. And she wants no one else but HouseScout as her rental agent. Of course, I remembered that lovely lady who perfectly fit with that apartment in Scheveningen, and a meeting is quickly arranged. And so, my tenant became a landlord.
And more...
Now, a few more years have passed. The delightful lady is so satisfied with HouseScout that she regularly refers me to acquaintances with rental or leasing inquiries. So, we stay in touch indirectly. Recently, I received another email. She's moving abroad, and she asks if I can assist her again with renting out her property in the Netherlands. Of course, I can, and we also schedule a visit to her home in Switzerland during her vacation.
The circle completes Not long ago, I assisted the future tenant for her apartment in The Hague. It happened in the same involved and spontaneous manner, as that's the HouseScout style. On that same day, the new tenant signed the lease agreement. Afterwards, we enjoyed a cup of coffee to celebrate and chat.
And I couldn't help but think... Will this tenant also be my next landlord?
